Found another list of independent foundries that actually have some soul. Most of these are doing much weirder, expressive stuff than the usual safe-bets we see on every SAAS landing page. I'm tired of seeing the same five grotesque families everywhere. A few of these might actually make me never touch Inter again which sounds great until I realize how much a massive variable font file weighs down a site. It's all very expressive and hard to ignore, but honestly, I worry about the legibility when things get too weird. Some of these faces look like they'd be a nightmare for long-form reading or anything with tight leading. I love the idea of moving away from the 'safe' look, but I can't imagine using some of these for a client who actually wants people to read their content. Too much personality for a basic UI probably. Still, it's better than another boring sans-serif clone. Most of this stuff is just too high-contrast for a standard grid system.
