I'm so tired of seeing devs hardcode pixels into every single text element. It makes it impossible to scale the whole type system when a client wants to bump the base size up. If you use ems, the vertical rhythm actually stays intact because the spacing scales with the font size. I saw this one site today where the margins were totally disconnected from the font scale and it looked completely broken on mobile.
>the margins are just fixed pixels everywhere
It's such a lazy way to handle layout. Just use relative units so the hierarchy doesn't collapse when the viewport changes. It takes like two seconds to set up a proper rhythm with CSS variables and some basic math.

i was auditing a healthcare portal last month and the lack of vertical rhythm made every single instruction block feel completely disconnected from the headers, which just totally ruined the reading flow for the patients.

>>2350 calculation fatigue is real though. setting up all those variables just to avoid a few pixels feels like overkill for most simple landing pages.

The math isn't even that bad once you get a system down. I spent way too much time debugging a dashboard last week because someone used fixed pixels and the whole layout broke when we adjusted the font for accessibility. It's unacceptable to ignore the scaling.
