tried adjusting the opsz axis manually in figma but it's not reflecting the actual glyph weight changes like it does in my browser inspector. looks like it's just scaling the whole thing instead of actually swapping the cuts.
>it doesn't look different at all. i've tried checking the 'axes' panel in the font settings but nothing happens when i slide it down to 12. it's making the fine details disappear on the larger weights too. don't trust figma's variable sliders for actual optical sizing because it's clearly just a visual hack right now. does anyone know if there's a plugin that actually forces the correct glyph set?

I'm not sure I follow why you think it's just scaling everything. Usually, if Figma isn't hitting the right glyph cuts, it's because of how the font file is being parsed during import rather than a visual hack in the slider itself. I'd expect to see different stroke widths or more open counters even if the details look fuzzy. Have you checked if the specific axes are actually supported by the version you're using? It might just be an issue with the local font installation on your machine. Hard to say without seeing how long you've been testing this particular setup ⚠
