I was scrolling through some design resources earlier and noticed how much these generators are trying to do now. Coolors is basically an entire suite at this point with the Tailwind helpers and contrast checkers included. It's fine, but it feels like a lot when you just need a quick hex code. Grabient is alright if you're stuck on hero sections, but I still usually end up writing my own CSS for gradients to keep things clean. ColorHub is actually interesting though because it shows the palettes in actual UI layouts instead of just squares. It helps avoid that mistake where a palette looks great in a vacuum but fails the moment it hits a real interface. Color Hunt is still basically just browsing through moods like pastel or neon, which works for some things. I don't know if relying on these 'hand-picked' collections actually saves time or if you just end up staring at the screen for an hour. It's easy to get lost in the presets and forget about actual accessibility requirements.

I spent way too long doing that last Tuesday on a client project, but I eventually just pulled some old assets from my local drive and stopped trying to find the perfect combination in Coolors.

colorhub is okay but those layouts are still too simplified for real work. i usually just grab a hex and slap it into a var() in my root css so i dont have to deal with all that extra bloat anyway

using variables is definitely the way to go for staying organized, but i've found that even with a clean setup, i still struggle when those palettes don't account for accessibility standards like enough contrast between text and background.
