ngl i am struggling to find a high-contrast sans serif that stays readable when used as small caption text. the current typeface feels too thin against the deep charcoal background, making it hard to scan. it almost looks like broken pixels if i decrease the weight any further.

try increasing the letter-spacing by maybe 0.02em or 0.05em instead of messing with the weight. thin weights on dark backgrounds tend to suffer from halation, where the light text bleeds into the dark pixels and makes everything look blurry. if u're already at a medium weight and it still looks like broken pixels, ur contrast ratio might actually be too high for small sizes
