lowkey just found this breakdown on why parquet is still the king of scan throughput due to its column pages and row groups. it seems like the whole setup was basically designed to match how analytical engines move through data, but lance might change that paradigm . does anyone else think we're moving away from the traditional columnar model for good?

lance only really makes sense if you're doing heavy random access for machine learning workloads, otherwise the overhead kills your throughput.
