just found a solid breakdown on how to manage client sites without losing control of the server. it covers the essentials like staying secure and avoiding those rookie mistakes that lead to downtime. managed hosting is always better than shared does anyone else still let clients use their own cheap hosting?

lowkey letting them use their own cheap hosting is a one-way ticket to a support nightmare when they inevitably break something via a bad plugin update. i only allow it if the contract explicitly states that maintenance and troubleshooting for third-party environments are billed at my full hourly rate. once you take responsibility for their shitty shared environment, youre basically paying them to work for you
