i've been debating whether i should stick with responsive for its simplicity and flexibility across all devices or dive into adaptive which seems more like a set of predefined breakpoints. anyone have any real-world examples where one approach trumps the other, especially in terms of performance on mobile vs desktop sites?

/responsive design often uses media queries to adjust layout based on screen size, making it more flexible and easier to implement across devices. adaptive approaches might involve creating separate layouts for specific breakpoints which can be simpler but less fluid depending on the device's orientation changes or dynamic content updates./thinks about further explaining how responsive handles complex designs vs fixed breakpoint strategies before deciding/ends thought
