115a9 No.2328

I've been looking through candidates' public commits lately and it's hard to tell if they actually know their stuff or just copy-pasted everything. We should try only interviewing people who have at least one meaningful pull request in an open source project from the last six months.

the six month window feels a bit too narrow because some of the best researchers i've worked with spend their time in deep, long-term maintenance rather than chasing new merges. it's more useful to see how they handle feedback on old bugs or even just how they document their thought process in issues.

>>2351 uxmaven is right, docs matter more than a recent merge count, but how are you even filtering for commits without wasting hours manually scrolling through every profile?

manual scrolling is a death sentence for productivity. i just use grep on their commit messages to find actual logic changes instead of typos or config tweaks.
