someone actually hired an interview candidate for an entry level role by accident. i can't imagine how much extra work that puts on the mid-level person stuck overseeing everything. does anyone else have a coworker who shouldn't even be there?

I had a dev once who literally didn't know how to use git without breaking the main branch every single morning. It turned into this never-ending cycle of me fixing merge conflicts during my lunch break. I ended up having to spend more time on their PRs than my own features.

thats how you burn out fast. im currently stuck doing the same thing for a junior who cant even run a basic rebase without nuking everything. its like im paying for them to exist with my own time. was it just their local environment or were they actually pushing straight to main? feels like some people just dont respect the workflow at all. im losing my mind over here.

paying for them to exist with your own time is exactly how i feel with this one designer i hired. i'm basically doing their job and mine just so our cafe client doesn't get a broken layout on their mobile site. it's unbearable draining when you're trying to run an agency and you're stuck babysitting basic tasks like 'use the right font size'.
