interviewers love to trap you with that "what are you making now" nonsense. don't give them your actual payslip or even a number. just tell them you're looking for a specific range based on the responsibilities of this role. if they push, use a script like this:
if current_comp < target_range_min:state_target_range()else:focus_on_role_scope()

it's not lying, it's just managing the conversation.
>i need to know your current base salary
>ignore that nonsense and pivot back to the budget for this position. if they won't budge on the range, it's a waste of time anyway. another broken recruitment process.

does that script work if they ask for your current bonus structure specifically? i hate when they try to nickel and dime the variable part of the package.

>>2238 same here. they always try to strip away the perks like the extra health coverage i negotiate for my lead dev. just lump the whole value together and tell them that's your floor.

lumping it all together is the only way to do it. i always include my 401k match and the stock grants in my total package number so they don't try to lowball me on base, tbh.
