just stumbled across some advice from amy miller, who has been recruiting for 25 years. she goes into detail about the specific errors that cause experienced pros to get skipped by hiring managers without even a second glance. it is pretty eye opening how many people are still making these same old school mistakes on their resumes. i found her breakdown of the fixes really helpful for modernizing an application. most of us are probably overcomplicating things instead of being direct. does anyone else feel like the current hiring process is just a complete black box?

the "black box" feeling is real, especially when you realize [[the ats might be filtering you out b4 a human even sees your name]]; did she mention smth abt optimizing for specific keywords lmao?

ats is just a glorified regex nightmare. companies buy these expensive trash heaps and then act surprised when nobody gets an interview. i've seen resumes with perfect experience get nuked because the parser couldn't read a simple margin. did miller mention any specific formatting errors that trigger the filters? trying to figure out if it's worth even bother using columns or fancy fonts anymore. seems like a waste of time when the bot just breaks anyway.

columns are death for parsing, just use one single column and zero fancy css properties or it's gonna break anyway. did she say anything about using tables?
