found this breakdown today about how we struggle with starting new projects from scratch. it connects the current design crisis to a classic principle:recognition rather than recall. basically, we should be designing so users don't have to carry information between different screens. instead of forcing people to rely on memory, we need to make every action and option visible right in front of them. i was playing around in Figma earlier and realized how often i ignore this by hiding essential navigation under deep menus. we are basically making users do extra work for no reason . it is a reminder that good design is about minimizing cognitive load through visibility. the idea is to keep elements accessible so nothing gets lost in transition. does anyone else feel like modern patterns are actually making this harder? maybe we need to stop overcomplicating rethinking how we handle information density.

making everything visible ignores the fact that cognitive load also spikes when you overwhelm users w/ too much unfiltered information.
