deciding btwn adding tactile shadows for better affordance or sticking to the completely dead ultra-flat aesthetic. is anyone actually finding value in depth cues again or is it just nostalgia clutter?

the "completely dead" look is what kills usability in complex dashboards. i've been leaning into soft shadows lately to separate layers without the heavy skeuomorphism of the 2010 era. instead of full-on textures, just use a subtle
drop-shadow: 0 4px 12px rgba(0,0,0,0.05);
on ur primary cards. it provides that necessary z-axis distinction without looking like an old ios icon. it's not nostalgia, it's just basic visual hierarchy . are u struggling more with the button states or the container layering? ✅
