n8n is moving pretty fast with this Gemini 4 Argon stuff. The MCP server setup seems like it could actually save some time if you're already living in your IDE. I was reading about how you can just prompt an agent to build a webhook workflow that hits a CRM and Slack, then it handles the nodes for you. It's basically
hands-off automation until the final publish step. I'm a bit skeptical about using OpenRouter or those OpenAI-compatible endpoints just to get the Assistant running on self-hosted instances though. It adds another layer of latency and another service to monitor if things go sideways.
>Build me an n8n workflow that catches new signups from this webhook, drops them into our CRM, and fires off a welcome message in Slack. The logic is fine for simple stuff, but I wonder how it handles complex conditional branching or custom JavaScript nodes. If the model hallucinates a node parameter, you're still stuck debugging the execution trace manually. It's probably great for boilerplate, but I wouldn't trust it with our core payment processing flows yet. Still, having an MCP client talk directly to my n8n instance could be handy for quick testing.
