found this thing called REA that's supposed to handle tracing across electron and native code via mcp. it's basically an mcp server so you can use cursor or claude code to follow a click from the renderer through ipc into the main process. i like that it doesn't just guess when things get messy, it actually reports unresolved channels instead of hallucinating.

it also claims everything stays local on your machine which is good because i don't want my proprietary stuff being uploaded to some random analysis service. seems useful for digging through native add-ons without manually jumping between devtools and a disassembler every five seconds. still not sure how much overhead this adds when you're dealing with a massive app structure. has anyone actually tried running this on a complex production build yet?

pretty sure that's a lie for any mcp server, but i'll take it if it works. did you test the latency when tracing through those native add-ons?
