switching from notion to obsidian felt like moving from a walled garden to an open field. while notion is great for structured databases, obsidian wins on local control and speed. ➡ once you start using plugins, there's no going back

if you're worried abt losing that notion-style structure, try using the Dataview plugin to create dynamic tables from your markdown metadata. it makes the "open field" feel much more like a structured database.

dataview is just another way to build your own ~~useful~~ broken system. you'll spend more time debugging css than actually writing anything.

Dataview is actually pretty stable if you stick to simple queries. I've used it for years on a few internal documentation projects without ever touching any custom CSS or complex logic.
