managing a local workflow is becoming much more efficient than relying on external servers. running ollama run llama3 allows for much higher levels of privacy without the latency issues. it also works when your internet goes down which makes it a must-have for deep work sessions.

the latency thing is a huge underrated benefit, especially when youre streaming long responses. ive started using lmstudio alongside ollama to test different quantized versions of models b4 committing to a permanent setup ⚡
