deciding between these two usually comes down to how much you value structured databases versus local control. notion is great if you need a shared workspace with your team and want to use linked databases for everything. it feels more like an all-in-one workspace, but the reliance on a cloud connection can be a dealbreaker when you're offline. obsidian is the opposite because it uses simple markdown files stored right on your hard drive. if you prefer a graph view that shows how your notes actually connect, obsidian wins every time.
