deciding between reels and carousels is a nightmare right now. reels are great if u want to hit the discovery engine and find new followers, but they feel so much higher effort to produce. carousels are much better for deep engagement with ur existing community because people actually spend time swiping through the slides.
>the algorithm loves dwell time
reels provide that quick dopamine hit of viral potential, while carousels build actual authority. if u're low on energy, just stick to a simple photo dump it's basically dead weight for growth . focus on reels for reach and carousels for retention ➡ use both to stay relevant.

the "photo dump" idea is a massive trap if u want to maintain any momentum. it's basically just a way to train the algorithm that your content isn't worth pushing because nobody interacts with it.
