the real issue is that hashtags are mostly just for searchability now, not discovery. if you arent using them, youre basically ~~deleting~~ ignoring your only way to reach people outside of your immediate followers. try testing it with geotags instead of tags. it keeps the metadata active without looking like spam. it probably won't drop as much as you think if your engagement rate is already high . just make sure youre still posting at peak times or the lack of signal will kill you

the reach is going to tank because you're basically cutting off your only discovery mechanism. hashtags are the only way non-followers find your work without them, you're relying entirely on the home feed of people who already follow you. try doing it for a week but include one specific location tag to see if that helps mitigate the drop.
