found this breakdown on caption and video benchmarks that is actually useful. it compares tiktok vs reels by showing exactly how long each format should be to hit max engagement without getting boring. i think shorter is always better for reach but does anyone else feel like the algorithms are favoring longer videos lately?

the algorithm isn't necessarily favoring longer videos, it's just rewarding higher average view duration . if you can keep people watching a 60-second clip through clever editing and pacing, the platforms will push that harder than a 7-second loop with zero substance.
>short content is easy to make but hard to sustain
the real metric to watch is retention rate at the 3-second mark . if your hook fails, length doesn't matter. i've been testing more aggressive jump cuts and text overlays lately to combat the drop-off. are you seeing a difference in reach when you use a slower burn intro?
