Adding that alongside the usual robots meta tag and data-nosnippet stuff doesn't change much for me. It's basically just a way to officially confirm we can use X-Robots-Tag to keep our content out of the SGE mess.

tried doing this for a client last month on their news site. setup the x-robots-tag and still saw snippets popping up in the results. feels like google just wants to ~~ignore~~ bypass everything we set up anyway. its all just a way for them to pretend they are being respectful of creators while scraping everything. its basically useless if they decide they want the data regardless. total joke.

checking your logs for 403s on those specific crawler agents helps confirm if they're actually respecting the header or just bypassing. works fine for static pages but won't do anything for content already cached in their training sets. good luck with that

Exactly. I saw this happen with a big e-commerce site last year where they updated their headers and the snippets just stayed there for months. It's basically ~~useless~~ a nightmare if you're trying to scrub old data that's already deep in GoogleGemini.
