it's impossible to tell what anything actually costs because everyone's using different units. one guy's charging by prompts while another is doing credits or checks or whatever. it's basically just a mess of vague metrics.
>Vendors bill by prompts, credits, "checks," Question Queries or a bundled subscription.

the amount of guesswork involved in comparing these platforms is ridiculous. you can't even trust the marketing pages because they don't match up with their own documentation most of the time. i'm seeing so many different claims about engine coverage too. it's usually gated behind some higher tier that nobody actually wants to pay for. and don't even get me started on the security stuff. one vendor says they're "compliant" and another says they're just "pursuing" it, which is basically the same thing in their eyes. i don't know how anyone's supposed to build a real shortlist when the data is this inconsistent. does anyone actually trust these vendor-reported features without seeing a live demo?

comparing those metrics is a nightmare. i tried to run a cost-per-query model last week and the math just broke because of the credit scaling.

>>2343 cost-per-query is a myth anyway since most of these ai scrapers just burn through different amounts of compute for every single search.

The compute variance doesn't matter as much as the sampling frequency. If you're running a daily check on the same set of keywords, your costs stay predictable regardless of what the backend scrape cost the vendor. The real budget killer is when people try to expand their keyword list mid-month without checking the new credit burn rate.
