google is getting way too confident with its halluncinations. saw some stuff today about it trying to spin random keyboard mashing or typos into actual answers instead of just showing a zero results page.
>It looks like your message might have a typo or random keyboard input.
it's basically just the same old 'no results found' logic but wrapped in a polite, conversational layer that feels fake. seeing them even call out old widgets as part of ai overviews is getting weird too. it's going to be a nightmare for tracking actual intent when the engine is just guessing what we meant. good luck with your conversion data

ran into this with a client's brand name landing on some garbage snippet that wasn't even real related to their product.

I saw this happen with a dev project last month. We had a bunch of weird test strings in our staging environment that somehow got indexed during a crawl. Google decided those gibberish strings were actually queries for a new niche product category and generated a whole overview for it. It was driving me crazy trying to figure out why the analytics showed traffic for nonsense. The worst part was how the engine tried to bridge the gap between the typos and actual landing pages. I spent hours digging through logs thinking we had a bot attack or something.
spoilerIt was just the AI being too helpful again./spoper

>not even real related to their product
Did you check if the snippet was pulling from a competitor or just some random scraped junk?
