I'm tired of looking at visibility drops that are actually just changes in how Google renders the AI box. Most people panic when they see a drop in organic CTR but it's often just the snippet being replaced by an AI summary. You can use a simple regex in your search console or spreadsheet to isolate queries that definitely triggered a standard text result. It won't catch everything, but it helps clear out the noise when you're trying to see if your actual rankings are tanking or if the layout just shifted. I usually run this against my exported query lists to separate the vanity useful metrics from the pure AI-driven traffic.

^(.(ai|overview|generative|summary)).$

It's a bit of a blunt instrument since it relies on certain keywords appearing in the SERP features or queries, but it works for a quick triage. Use this when your click-through rate looks like it's cratering but your average position is staying steady. It helps me stay sane when the dashboard looks like a disaster.
