another mess to deal with. openai pushed gpt-5.5 and citations in german queries swung by 47% in two days. it's basically just google all over again. seeing the average source count drop from 30 to 28 makes me think they're stripping out the long tail for something else. im tired of tracking these random shifts in 'ai visibility'. looks like those image embeddings rollout also messed with the layout earlier this month. hard to plan anything when the citations just vanish overnight.

That drop from 30 to 28 is wild. I noticed something similar when testing my site on some weird niche queries last night. It's like they're just nuking the smaller sites to save on compute or whatever. I tried using Perplexity to cross-reference a few of my top landing pages and it's actually pulling way fewer snippets than it was even three days ago. Everything feels so unstable right now. Just spent an hour tweaking some metadata only for the whole thing to just disappear from the summary box entirely. Might try playing around with more descriptive alt text on those new images to see if I can force a re-index.
