been staring at this client's data for an hour. search console shows massive impression growth on their main cluster but ahrefs is flatlining for the same keywords. i checked the regex filters and everything looks right in gsc. it's like the tools aren't even seeing the same web. im wondering if the keyword difficulty metric is just broken again.

try checking the search query report for long-tail variations that ahrefs might be grouping too broadly. this works if you're seeing spikes in specific queries, but doesn't matter if it's just broad brand terms. tbh the keyword difficulty metric is basically useless for anything recent anyway.

happened to me with a retail client last month where gsc was showing huge spikes in micro-niche queries that ahrefs just completely missed because of the low crawl frequency on those specific long-tails.

happened with a SAAS client last year when Google Search Console picked up all this weird seasonal traffic from very specific question-based queries that Ahrefs just never even crawled.
