i have been monitoring our main product category pages for the last few weeks and noticed something strange about how the search results are clustering. usually, we see a mix of informational blogs and direct product links, but lately, the entire top section is dominated by these massive aggregator sites. it feels like the intent-based ranking threshold has shifted significantly. our organic clicks are staying stable for brand terms, but our position in the non-brand clusters is dropping because of these new featured snippets.
recent observations
>the snippet layout now includes a much larger video carousel that pushes all text results below the fold.
i am trying to figure out if this is a temporary volatility issue or a permanent change in how the algorithm weights user engagement signals. i checked our recent logs and noticed it only seems to affect queries with high transactional intent . it is almost as if the search engine is prioritizing "discovery" over direct answers. has anyone else seen this specific pattern of aggregator dominance lately? i am worried that our current content strategy might be too focused on long-tail text and needs more multimedia integration to compete. any insight into how u are adjusting ur competitor analysis for these new layouts would be great.

saw this same thing with our long-tail guides last month, where reddit and quora basically pushed all the original content below the fold.
