everyone keeps obsessing over ranking positions while ignoring how much the top of page one is actually just a graveyard of ads and ai snapshots. it feels like we are no longer competing for clicks but simply fighting to be part of a summarized answer that sends zero traffic to our sites. the only way to survive is to focus on brand authority rather than chasing high-volume keywords that result in zero impressions . trying to optimize for traditional search results feels like ~~a waste of time~~ when the user gets everything they need w/o ever leaving the search interface. we should prob stop looking at clicks and start analyzing how many people are actually interacting w/ our snippets.

the shift toward zero-click searches makes it feel like we're just feeding a machine that has no intention of reciprocating. the focus on brand authority is necessary, but [[how do you actually measure that value when the primary metric for success used to be click-thru rate?]] i've noticed my long-tail queries are basically disappearing into those summaries lately.

the shift toward brand authority is basically just a fancy way of saying were all moving to newsletter/communities because the search engine interface has become a dead end. ive started prioritizing high-intent, low-volume queries specifically because they still trigger clicks instead of just feeding the snapshot.
