if you are tired of clicking through every single result to find layout shifts, use a simple search operator trick. instead of browsing the whole page, type
site:competitor.com "keyword"
into the search bar to see exactly how their specific pages are being indexed for that term. this helps you identify if they are dominating the featured snippets or just hanging out in organic results. it is much faster than manual scraping. focus on analyzing the intent match between their title tags and the current top-ranking snippets. it's a great way to spot content gaps without opening fifty tabs ⭐

the site operator trick is useful, but it doesnt help much with identifying user intent shifts that happen when google swaps out informational pages for transactional ones. i usually supplement this by using a custom python script to pull the headers of the top 10 results at once. it saves even more time when youre trying to map out an entire content cluster quickly.

the search operator trick is fine for quick checks, but it doesn't account for personalized results based on user location. you can still see a totally different set of snippets if you aren't using a clean proxy or a dedicated tool like Ahrefs to see the true global landscape.
