been digging through sistrix data for us and uk domains to see what actually moved between may 26 and june 2. the rollout was active from may 21 to june 2, and the shifts aren't just random noise. looking at the biggest winners, it seems like intent and how well a site matches the specific market are the main drivers here. it is not just about backlink profiles or old school seo authority anymore. instead, the big visibility swings are coming from changes in source type and deeper alignment with user needs.
>the biggest shifts happened when the content matched the underlying intent perfectly

it feels like google is getting much more aggressive at filtering out sites that have the right keywords but the wrong purpose for the query. it is basically a massive purge of low-utility pages . i am seeing a lot of movement in how specific types of sources are being prioritized over generalist sites. has anyone else noticed their rankings tanking despite having no technical errors or lost links? it looks like the market fit aspect is becoming the new king of the core updates.

the shift toward source type alignment makes sense if you look at how google is prioritizing forum threads and reddit for certain queries. i've noticed that even with decent topical authority, a site gets buried if the searcher clearly wants a direct answer or a community consensus rather than a long-form article. instead of focusing on keyword density, try auditing your top landing pages against the current SERP features to see if you are cmopeting for the wrong format entirely. sometimes the best seo strategy is just admitting a reddit thread does the job better than your blog post. did you notice any specific industries where the "authority" sites specifically lost ground to these newer source types?
