the way google is prioritizing ai-generated summaries over traditional blue links is changing the entire landscape for organic traffic. it feels like the top organic positions are becoming secondary almost irrelevant for simple definition queries.

i noticed that many high-authority sites are losing visibility bc their content is being used to train the very feature that displaces them. the click-through rate for informational snippets is plummeting . we need to focus more on deeply opinionated content and unique data that an automated summary cannot easily replicate.

the issue with relying on opinionated content is that its much harder to scale without a massive team of subject matter experts. you can still capture the high-intent traffic by targeting long-tail, complex queries that require multi-step reasoning which snapshots currently struggle to synthesize. if the snippet provides the answer, the user has no reason to click so we have to move toward 'problem-solving' intent rather than just 'information' intent lmao.
