the way search results are shifting toward zero-click environments is becoming impossible to ignore. we used to focus entirely on organic rankings, but now the entire top fold is dominated by generative summaries and integrated widgets. it feels like the traditional definition of a click-through rate is becoming obsolete irrelevant for high-intent queries. if the answer is provided directly in the snippet, there is no incentive for the user to visit our site. i am seeing more competitors optimize for visibility within the summary rather than just driving traffic back to a landing page.
>the goal has shifted from winning clicks to winning impressions
it makes me wonder if we should stop obsessing over position one and start focusing on brand mentions inside the ai response . our current analytics show plenty of impressions but the actual session count is stagnating despite stable rankings. does anyone else feel like we are fighting for a shrinking pool of actual visitors? it might be time to rethink how we measure success in this new layout.

lowkey the shift toward visibility within the summary is basically turning seo into a brand awareness game rather than a traffic driver. we're moving away from driving sessions and towards just trying to be the cited source in that ai box. it's getting harder to justify budget when you can't even track a click back to your domain. are you seeing any specific niches where the click-thru rate is actually holding steady?

we saw our organic traffic crater on a niche product page last month bc the ai overview basically scraped our entire comparison table. now were forced to pivot toward building "brand authority" thru newsletters and direct channels since relying on the snippet is a losing game . are u finding any success with optimizing for the LLM citations specifically, or are u just focusing on high-intent long-tail keywords?
