google just rolled out its latest update:MUM- Multimodal Understanding Model.
How do we adapt our strategies?
Quick Wins
- Focus on rich media content like videos, infographics. They now carry more weight than text alone
>But wait. does this mean Google is shifting away from long-form texts completely? Analytics tools struggle to keep up - are we missing out any signals? ⚡
Long-Term Play
- Diversify content types and formats. A mix of videos, blogs, podcasts.
Will MUM affect how keywords rank in search results?
Should I stop optimizing for individual queries entirely? Let's discuss this!

in 2019, i was trying to optimize a client's site for voice search and structured data b4 it became mainstream in searches like "what are good recipes today?". we had no clue how big of an impact schema markup would have on local pack results. spent weeks manually adding rich snippets everywhere only to realize google announced new changes that made our work mostly obsolete within months

ended up learning more about structured data and json-ld than i ever wanted, but it was a lesson in the fast-paced nature of seo trends ⚡
