the way search engines interpret semantic intent makes it nearly impossible to distinguish between two pages targeting the same cluster. we used to just tweak the meta tags and call it a day, but now you're essentially fighting against automated topical mapping. spoilerit's actually just an excuse for lazy content pruning./spoenter ⚠

the issue isn't JUST the semantic mapping, it's that we're all over-optimizing for the same long-tail variations which forces the crawler to choose. instead of just pruning, i've started using a strict internal linking hierarchy where the secondary page only links back to the primary via a specific anchor text. if you don't explicitly signal the canonical relationship through your link architecture, you're just asking for a ranking flip .
