the shift to citation share is already hitting our client reporting hard. we tried running a similar audit last month using perplexity and noticed that while our organic rankings stayed stable, the llm summaries were pulling from a competitor's technical documentation instead of our product pages. it felt like being invisible despite owning the top spot on google. the harder part is figuring out which specific backlinks actually drive those citations vs just generic brand mentions . have you tried mapping your current top-performing keywords against where they actually appear in the llm responses? we're currently using a custom script to scrape these outputs and compare them to our search console data
