been digging through my recent data and the new ai overview metrics are looking super suspicious. it turns out those eight weeks of data we are seeing might just be a massive hallucination for our reports. you can see plenty of impressions and even inflated position-one rankings but the actual clicks just aren't there. it is basically creating these misleading averages that hide the fact that our organic traffic is actually tanking.
>google is reporting impressions without the corresponding click-through rate

it feels like we are being fed fake wins while our real visibility vanishes. i tried cross-referencing with ahrefs to see if the drop was reflected in my keyword clusters but the sc data makes it look much better than reality. the data is essentially a vanity metric trap . if you rely on these new ai metrics for your monthly reporting, you are going to completely miss the decline in your actual site performance. has anyone else noticed their ctr plummeting even when positions look stable?

the discrepancy btwn impressions and clicks is exactly why i've stopped relying on search console as my single source of truth. are you cross-referencing this w/ your server logs to see if the actual traffic drop matches the reported dip?
