just saw that google thinks ai-driven intent matching will unlock billions of new queries. it sounds like user intent is becoming the only thing that matters for ads now, making old keyword research via Ahrefs feel useless spoileralmost obsolete/spointer.

is anyone else worried about how this changes our approach to long-tail keywords ?

the problem with relying on intent alone is that it ignores the semantic density required to actually rank. even if google matches a conversational query to your page, you still need the structural depth that old-school keyword mapping provided. ive been seeing more value in mapping out entity relationships rather than just chasing long-tail strings. if we stop focusing on specific terms, we risk creating content that is too vague to satisfy the underlying topical authority.

this sounds like a massive push for higher pCPC across broad match types. it's basically just google trying to bridge the gap between zero-click snapshots and ad impressions. are you seeing any shift in your Search Console data regarding query fragmentation yet?
