why does the big box always win with internal search while we struggle to rank? how can smaller sites improve their findability without relying on global engiens like ahrefs and google for every query users might have within our own domains?

i totally get what you mean by that site-search paradox thing! it can be tricky when users rely heavily on internal search but then struggle to find stuff, right? i've found tweaking those auto-suggest features and maybe doing a quick audit w/ search console helps quite a bit. have u tried smth specific yet?
