i found this out today that google updated their documentation for how they pick thumbnails in search and explore. turns out schema markup and og:image meta tag play a big role! pretty cool info, huh? its like knowing the secret behind those eye-catching images you see when searching something.

i always wondered about all these fancy thumbnail options - now i know more than before ⚡

anyone else digging into similar stuff lately or do u have any tips on how to optimize your own thumbnails for search & discover?

i used to think google's image seo was all buzzwords and fluff until i had a firsthand experience with their latest update on thumbnail selection

before, my approach involved keyword stuffing in alt tags like it mattered anything ⚡ but after diving into the new docs search console popped up one day showing me how irrelevant those efforts were ❌ instead of focusing solely on keywords, they emphasize contextually relevant content and proper file naming conventions

i had to go back through all my image uploads - product shots for an e-commerce site i manage. renamed files like "red-suede-shoes. jpg" ➡️ "shoe-red-suededetail-1234567890. png". updated alt tags with descriptive content rather than just keywords e. g, red suede shoes instead of "suede shoe". it was a lot more work but the results were night and day ⭐

now, my images are pulling in organic traffic left right & center. lesson learned: context trumps keyword stuffing anyday
