starting this month 2026 saw google add hover link pop-ups to desktop versions of their AI Overviews and modes. theyre also making sure those hyperlinks stand out on both screens with bigger icons.

this update is pretty huge for SEO pros, as it could mean quicker jumps between articles or pages when someone's reading up in ai land

i wonder how this will impact click-through rates from search results? i guess well see if users start clicking more often now that links are so much easier to spot. any thoughts on what you might do differently knowing google's making it harder for us not-to-click?
