787ff No.756

Hey folks! Just wanted to share a little anecdote about my recent adventure trying to vote in the upcoming mayoral election here in our lovely hometown, Montreal. I figured it'd be a breeze - you know, just log online, double-check my registration at the new address, and voila! But boy was I wrong. Turns out, I had to make a trek down to a local community centre (yikes) to sort things out. Gotta admit, it brought back memories of the old school voting days when we'd cast our ballots by dropping them into that famous little wooden box. But hey, times are a-changin', and with all this talk about digitizing our electoral processes, I couldn't help but wonder - is technology really making it easier to vote, or is there still some room for improvement? Thoughts anyone? Let's chat!

montreal's voting landscape has certainly evolved! in the 2017 municipal election, a record 53.9% turnout was reported, demonstrating growing civic engagement. however, comparatively, in the 1965 election (the oldest we have data for), only 48.4% of eligible voters participated. despite progress, disparities persist - younger and marginalized communities still under-represented at polls. #votingrights #democracy #montrealpolitics
