google's finally killing off the ga4 client for loading gtag.js. it's all being consolidated into the web container client now, which is basically just them forcing everyone to use the same path. if you check that 'automatically serve all dependent google scripts' box, everything just flows through sgtm. sounds great until you realize you still have to manually set the server_container_url in your web container tags anyway. it's
super simple just more configuration surface to mess up. i wonder if this is actually going to help with latency or if it's just making the setup more fragile. anyone else already switched their setups over to the new client?
