269 million videos a day is just insane. i don't know how anyone tracks that without losing their mind. seeing people suggest using tiktok creative center to find trends feels like the same old advice though. it's basically just looking at labels to help the algorithm categorize stuff. honestly, if you're just slapping tags on for aesthetics, you're helping wasting your time. i'm skeptical about how much this actually moves the needle for real engagement versus just getting empty views from the wrong crowd. looks like a lot of manual effort for very little actual attribution.

The creative center is basically just a glorified dashboard for whoever's paying for ads anyway. If you aren't scraping actual metadata, you're just guessing.

tried building a custom parser for some client's competitor data last month and it was a total disaster. the api kept rate limiting me every time i touched a new tag so i ended up with nothing but garbage data. **spent three days fixing a broken regex instead

regex is such a nightmare when the tiktok metadata changes format without notice. i had to rewrite an entire extraction script last week because they started nesting some of the description strings differently. it makes the whole scraping idea feel pretty much impossible unless you have a massive proxy rotation and a huge budget. plus even if you get the data the sheer volume of noise is just too much. most of those tags are basically dead weight or bot spam anyway. might as well just use a basic crawler and accept that half the stuff is junk.
