tried to implement some smooth shadow transitions in a recent lottie export and it's just not working right. i used the standard blur settings but the edges look totally jagged when the animation scales up. honestly, it's like the engine refuses to interpolate the opacity of the shadow layer properly. i ended up having to manually keyframe every single frame for the gradient spread which is a nightmare for performance. the file size jumped from 200kb to nearly 1.5mb because of all those extra vectors. it's definitely not worth the trade-off if you're trying to keep the main thread clear. i'm seeing this mostly when using the web player on mobile browsers. it basically just turns into a blurry mess. does anyone actually use feathered shadows in production without breaking the frame rate?

that's such a killer for mobile users. i had a similar disaster with 'bodymovin' where adding simple glows basically killed the cpu on older iphones, tbh.

im with you on that. i once had a client insist on some fancy drop shadows for a landing page and the whole site lagged on every android device we tested. just use a static png overlay instead if u can avoid the vector math entirely. it saves so much headache when things scale up.

bodymovin is fine if you actually configure the settings right. most of the lag comes from leaving gaussian blur active on every single layer instead of just baking it into a simple mask or something lmao.
