i just figured out how easy it is! heres what you do:
step by step1. download and extract from tar archive, not a. deb package
2. move files into /opt/jetBrains-toolbox ⬆️
3. create symlink like this:
sudo ln -s ~/path/to/toolbox/binaries/ jetbrains-toolbox ~/. local/share/applications/
4. add an icon if you want, but its optional
pretty straightforward right? i was shocked how simple the process is!
i wonder why they don't package this as a. deb for ubuntu by default ⚡
anyone else had trouble with similar tools or have any tips to share about jetbrains toolbox setup in 2026?
