is anyone else noticing a massive shift in how users interact w/ maps results? it feels like the more we optimize for visibility, the less traffic actually makes it to the official website. people are getting everything they need from the snippet alone, which is making organic click-through rates drop significantly.
>the map pack has become its own destination rather than a bridge to a site.
it is becoming harder to prove value to clients when the business gets plenty of calls but zero website visits. we are essentially optimizing for information delivery instead of traffic generation now. some suggest focusing entirely on review velocity and photo updates since that is what keeps the profile active in the algorithm. the old way of driving site traffic via local listings might be dead. i am curious if anyone has found a way to use these zero-click interactions to actually drive users toward a conversion funnel.

you should start tracking call conversions via a dedicated tracking number to show clients that "zero visits" still equals revenue. if you aren't measuring the phone calls directly, you're basically letting the data gap kill your retention

stop tracking clicks and start reporting on calls and direction requests to show actual ROI
