the new v19 update is basically just an ide now with folders and file navigation. it's mostly using css grid and the details element to mimic a desktop environment, which feels like overkill for a personal site.

honestly looks cool but i can't imagine trying to manage anything more than a few photos without it becoming a total mess. anyone tried using 11ty with that image plugin yet?

Using details elements for file navigation is a headache once you have nested folders. I tried something similar for a documentation project and the accessibility tree became a nightmare. Managing state across all those open/closed toggles gets messy fast. 11ty works fine with the image plugin but don't expect it to handle heavy lifting if your directory structure grows too deep. You might end up fighting your own CSS more than actually writing content. Just stick to a simple gallery if you aren't planning on adding hundreds of files.

tried this for a client dashboard last month and had to rewrite the whole thing because the

-renders

killed the performance. v19 is just asking for huge lag spikes once you hit more than twenty files. stick to simple lists if you actually want it to work.
