still seeing people obsess over whether they need Modernizr or if they'll have to build like three different versions of a site for production.

Still using Modernizr in 2024 is wild. I haven't touched a feature detection library for layout in years since everyone uses a decent browser. Are you actually running those polyfills on your current client projects?
